Gallbladder is gone.

I had laparoscopic surgery yesterday to have my gallbladder removed. It only took them about 30mins to perform the surgery and I just have 4 tiny bandages on my stomach. Although my stomach is still very bloated due to the gas they pump into your stomach; I can’t even see my ribs. I’m a little uncomfortable but nothing like the foot surgery. Overall it really wasn’t that bad. The great thing is that I’ll be able to eat without the fear of excruciating pain now. Gallstones are like a ticking time bomb, you never know when they’ll go off and cause problems. So now I can go back to the business of getting my foot better so that I can get back to work, the gym, etc.

  1. Hi Dana,

How awful to see what you have been through! Life can be very unfair sometimes! Glad you are doing ok though! I go back to the hospital a week on Monday for xrays and hopefully to give my boot back, i'm hoping I can talk about having my other foot done soon.

I havent been given any physio so maybe they will wait until i have my boot off. I almost feel used to walking around in the boot, but I will be glad to start walking properly again, hopefully! My foot is still very weak but it's much better than when they first took the cast off! he swelling seems to be better now as well, but im preparing for the fact that it may swell once I start walking on it properly again!

Look forward to hearing from you soon!

  2. Glad to hear you're doing well Laura! I'm surprised they haven't started you on physical therapy yet. I thought they would try to wean you off the boot since the boot makes the ankle so weak. I'm sure they have some sort of plan in mind.
I'll bet you are excited to talk about getting your other foot done. I'm so glad mine is done and in another 6-8 weeks I should be walking normally.
Good luck! And keep me posted with how you're doing!

  3. I thought they would have me doing physio in advance as well, I can't see how I am going to go next week and they will take the boot away and just expect me to walk. Seems a little strange, but as you say they must have a plan! I have been doing my own exercises though, I looked at the one's you posted with the band and I have been copying them. I already had one of those bands so I use that, and I must say I have noticed an increase in strength from doing the exercises. I am glad I had your exercises to look at!

I am hoping I can discuss having my other foot done, I really dont want to wait now, I just want it all over with now, I am very impatient! Ha! Did you feel that you had enough strength in your operated foot when you had the other foot done, as you need to put all your wait on that foot after the op dont you?

    Hope you are doing ok!

    Speak soon

  4. I'm glad my exercises were helpful to you. I originally had my doubts that my first foot would be strong enough when I had my second foot done but everything turned out well. By the time of the second surgery my foot was feeling almost normal. The physical therapy made a huge difference. At first I didn't think it was doing that much but after a few weeks I could really tell it was helping.

Good luck with your appointment. Let me know how things go.
